Mikaela Boutilier, DVM

Dr. Mikaela Boutilier is originally from Toronto, Canada. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Toronto, where she completed the Psychology Research Specialist program. While pursuing her undergraduate studies, she worked as a stable hand and riding instructor, which deepened her love for horses and ultimately inspired her to pursue her childhood dream of becoming an equestrian veterinarian.

Dr. Boutilier graduated at the top of her class from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2025. Her passion for equine medicine was fostered through five years of experience as a veterinary technician at Woodbine Racetrack, where she enjoyed working closely with elite equine athletes.

Following graduation, Dr. Boutilier completed a year-long internship at Hess Equine Veterinary Services. During her internship, she developed a particular passion for emergency medicine and preventive care while gaining experience in all aspects of equine practice. She enjoyed working alongside the talented veterinarians and staff at Hess Equine and building relationships with the practice's exceptional clients so much that she was thrilled to continue with the team as an Associate Veterinarian.

Dr. Boutilier looks forward to continuing to serve the equine community, helping horses live healthier lives through preventive care, and further developing her skills as a clinician throughout her career.

Dr. Boutilier lives in New Freedom, PA with her off-the-track Thoroughbred gelding, Odin. In her spare time, she enjoys horseback riding, weightlifting, hiking, fostering cats, and spending time with family and friends.
